Vigan City celebrates World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival 2019

Every September, Vigan City celebrates the World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural 

Festival.  This month-long festivity, in solidarity with other World Heritage Cities around the world, aims to strengthen the pride in the city’s history and culture, promote friendship and diversity between countries and

serves as a great venue for forging ties and understanding through community’s involvement in the city’s various activities that highlights love for culture, arts and entertainment.

Solidarity is the combination or

agreement of all elements or individuals, as of a group; complete unity, as of opinion, purpose, interest, or feeling.

Solidarity is one of the

activities here in vigan. They or should I say We are celebrating solidarity for us promote our traditions, cultures and other historical society that we should have know. Solidarity says that every one, every part of the society must cooperate and also join the different activities that they must give.

Being a Bigueño is such

a wonderful because the traditions and cultures we have here in Vigan City is very unique and we must be enjoying and adequate in what we have in the present and in the past. 

Solidarity here in Vigan is much awaited every year. There are many different activities like singing competitions, photography, zarzuela Ilocana (Ilocano stage play), dallot (a part of the Ilocano oral tradition of debate through  singing), kinnantaran (a form of debate between a man and a woman through singing), cultural quiz, sabayang pagbigas (speech choir), daniw (poetry), storytelling, writing on the history of Vigan as told by senior residents, painting, and folk dancing.
